 Allendale Terrace was born during the land boom of the 1920s when noted developer Cade B. Allen purchased 150-plus acres of farmland known as "Foster Grove" in 1922. Allendale's brick streets and granite curbs were under construction by the summer of 1923, and soon stately homes began to rise. Many of these homes were custom built for wealthy northerners, so architectural styles varied but they did have one commonality. A former stonemason, Allen consistently used natural materials, such as granite, sandstone, and fieldstone, as a facade for these distinctive homes. The resulting houses are distinctly special and recognizable as Cade Allen designs even as they range in style from Westchester, New York-style stone mansions and Spanish castles to California-style missions.

 Today, Allendale remains one of the most desirable communities within St. Petersburg. The original houses of the Cade Allen era have been joined by an eclectic mix of homes that blend beautifully with the unique feel of the neighborhood. These distinctive houses are set back on lots that are larger than those of many other historic neighborhoods. The original brick streets remain as do many of the early oak trees. These mature trees offer a canopy of shade over the pedestrian and bike friendly streets and sidewalks that gently slope and wind through the neighborhood. The community is also home to Allendale Park. This neighborhood green space offers residents a serene place with plenty of shade to walk the dog or just enjoy nature.

 Almost exclusively made up of single-family owner-occupied homes, this residential community cares deeply about maintaining the things that make it special. Striving to keep Allendale Terrace as a quiet oasis, you'll not find any commerce within its borders, but that doesn't mean residents are isolated from the perks of urban life. With MLK Street North and Haines Road at its edges, everything a homeowner might need or want is nearby, including grocery, drug, and a variety of retail stores. Downtown St. Pete and its many entertainment and cultural attractions are less than three miles away and beach lovers can be at St. Pete Beach in only twenty minutes. It's a perfect location for living and playing.
