 Snell Isle can trace its beginnings to famed St. Petersburg developer, Percy Snell. Enraptured with the flair of Mediterranean Revival architecture, Snell dreamed of a community that would showcase this ornate style. In 1925, he slowly began turning this dream into reality. Connected by 1931 to the (Old) Northeast neighborhoods by a Venetian-style bridge, Snell Isle was designed to be an exclusive tropical paradise. Broad avenues were lined by beautiful landscaping, Classical and Renaissance style statuary, and some of the most magnificent "Spanish castles" in Florida. Surrounded by picturesque waters, the professionally-designed 18-hole Snell Isle Golf Course served as the centerpiece of the highly desirable community. It offered luxury Florida living at its finest.

 This is still true today. The community retains many of the exquisitely maintained (or renovated) original Mediterranean Revival homes dating back to the 1920s and 30s. These beautiful houses have been joined by a wide variety of newer homes that capture the imagery of Old World European elegance while also offering the smart home technologies of today. Old or new, these luxurious homes are still part of an exclusive and special community. The original Venetian style bridge was reconstructed in 1996 to serve modern traffic while retaining its distinctive style. Just outside this course, a memorial pays tribute to Perry Snell and a median space has been transformed to reflect the community's Mediterranean style history with ornate sculptures, fountains, and a small gazebo with stone seating.  This luxury living also comes with waterfront style. The views are magnificent and many residents can enjoy water activities and sports from their private deep waterway docks.
